Zadar, also called "Little Croatian Rome", is surrounded by 5 national parks. These are: Paklenica, Kornati (Kornati), Plitvice Lakes (Plitvice Lakes), Krka River Falls (Krka Falls) and northern Velebit (northern Velebit). It takes one or two hours by car or boat to travel from Zadar, as well as from other resorts in the Zadar region to all the mentioned national parks.
In Zadar you will be greeted by hospitable people, with whom you can have a glass of Zadar's original Maraskino leaves or talk about basketball, because the sport has made the city famous. Zadar also boasts a wealth of monuments. It is the first city in Croatia to have a university in 1396. It was founded by the Dominicans in the area of the monastery of St. Dominica.

History and monuments
The territory of Zadar was settled as early as the 9th century BC. The historical center with many landmarks is located on the peninsula, where remains from the time of Roman rule have been preserved, e.g. the Roman Forum, but also the church of St. Donáta, Zadar Cathedral or the Venetian City Loggia. The attraction for tourists is also the unique Sea Organ, a system of pipes located in the embankment and the soothing sound in the tones of the Croatian Klapa, and Salutation to the Sun, solar collectors located on the embankment and representing the Sun and its planets.
