Slivno - Ravno
Croatia, Southern Dalmatia
Slivno is a small village in southern Dalmatia, around which vines are grown. The origin of the name has two variants. The first variant says that Slivno was named because it is located on the left side of Neretva. The second variant says that the central and oldest villages in Slivno Ravno and the Slivan peninsula were named after the geographical location and shape of the surrounding terrain. Slivno village is surrounded by hills Kosa (from the north), Pozvizd (from the south) and Jastrebova glavica (from the west). Between these hills lies the valley of Slivno Ravno. During heavy rains the water flowed from the hills and merged into the Adriatic Sea and streams to Neretva. The village of Slivno was named after this confluence.
