The town Posedarje has around 1500 inhabitants, which besides tourism live from agriculture. The tourists can visit the cafes, shops, bakery, fish, market or taverns and restaurants where you can taste specialties of domestic kitchen. One local speciality is famous Posedarje (Dalmatian) prosciutto ham.

Near the resort Posedarje lie three small islands, which attract divers to explore.

History and monuments

The settlement Posedarje is situated in a place that has been inhabited since the 12th century.

Church of St. Mary (crkva Sv. Marije) - medieval single-nave church was built on the site of an older Romanesque building.

Church of St. Spirit (crkvica Sv. Duha) - was constructed in 12th century on a small island, which is connected to the mainland by a narrow passage.

Swimming and beach Posedarje

The resort Posedarje has a lot of small pebble beaches surrounded by pine trees. In Posedarje are two main beaches, pebble beach is situated in the center and the other lies in a shallow sandy bay with a very warm sea. Therefore Posedarje is suitable location for families with young children.

Sports offer

In the resort Posadarje you can rent the water skis, bikes, kayaks, sailing and motor boat, tennis courts and football pitches. Divers are well catered for in discover three nearby islands.

Posedarje is ideal start point for mountain tourism, because about 20 km lies the village of Starigrad, which is the entrance to the canyon of Velika Paklenica of National Park Paklenica. Vaganski vrh, the highest hill in this mountains, reaches a height of 1757 m above sea level and there is the highest rock Anica Kuk, with an elevation of 712 m.
