Pirovac
Croatia, Northern Dalmatia
The small town Pirovac with more than 2,000 inhabitants is located in the bay Pirovačký zaljev opposite the island of Murter, about 20 km northwest of the ancient town Sibenik towards Zadar and Biograd. Nearby is also a popular resort Vodice - 12km. Another interesting places are nature park Vrana Lake - 20 km, National Park Krka with river Krka and waterfalls - 33 km, we recommend a boat trip to the Kornati archipelago. In the ancient center of Pirovac are narrow stone streets and restaurants, sweet shops, cafes, post office, bank. Surrounding the village Pirovac is very fertile, there are mainly vines and olives. Profitable is also the local fishing. The town is developing as a resort too.

History and monuments
The first mention of Pirovac (then still Zlosela) is from the end of the 13th century, the name Pirovac was only given to the village in 1921. The parish church of St. Jiří (from 1506, originally Renaissance, it got its Baroque form at the beginning of the 18th century) It was built here for defense against the Turks at roughly the same time (at the beginning of the 16th century) as the Church of St. Jiří and the fortress and walls built by Peter Draganić, we can see the remains of the defensive wall. The Vrančić and Draganić family chapel (sarcophagus with a relief from the middle of the 15th century) standing in the local cemetery is also worth mentioning.
History breathes on us even from the narrow stone streets while walking or sitting in a cafe.
