History and monuments
The town of Orašac has preserved many interesting historical monuments. The most important of them is the castle called Soderini after the Florentine warrior Pietro Soderini, who most likely hid here from the displeasure of Pope Julius II. The ruins of the fortified castle Arapovo-Morovo from the 15th century stand on a rock above the sea. Currently, the castle is part of a tourist complex.
Among the attractions of Oraška is the parish church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary, built in the 15th century.
We recommend a tour of the old town with the Church of Our Lady of Orašacka, which was founded in the 15th century and remodeled in the Baroque style in later years. Also worthy of attention in Orašac is the fortified tower of Danovića kula, built with adjacent buildings and a chapel in the 16th century.
Near the original Dominican monastery stands the former residence of the Austrian ambassador to the Republic of Dubrovnik from the beginning of the 18th century.
