Mrljane - island Pasman

Mrljane - one of the places on the island of Pašman which belongs to the Zadar Archipelago, and it is connected with Biograd with a regular ferry line.
In Antique times this settlement was located at the foot of Semic hill, while today it is situated on the seashore, notable for its sand beaches.
Its residents have been engaged in agriculture and sailing since time immemorial, while tourism has become an additional occupation in recent times. The nearby hill affords a lovely view of the Pašman Channel.
The beautiful sandy beach attracts more and more tourists every day, and the local people, who are traditionally known as excellent boat-builders, have since recently been engaging in nautical tourism.

Recommendation: do not leave valuables in the cars, do not carry them to the beach, lock the accommodation units and close the windows before you leave, follow the traffic rules, especially in smaller towns and drive cautiously when it rains.

History and monuments

The name Pasman (Postimana) was first mentioned in rolls from 990. Byzantine emperor and travel writer Constantine Porfirogenet in his work " De administrando imperio " recorded the medieval name of the island, although in Greek “Katan”, which would be closer to the present name of the town of Tkon .
Certain towns on the island, according to the data available so far, appear in the following order: Tkon in 950, Pasman in 990, Nevidjane in 1067, Banj in 1625, Dobropoljana in 1284, Barotul in 1309, Mrljane in 1343, Zdrelac in 1446, Punta Pasman in 1472.
In history as well as today, the population of the island of Pasman made their living with agriculture, oil-production, fishing. The following had its landed property on the island: Zadar archbishopric, Zadar Benedictines of Sv. Krsevan, certain citizens of Zadar and Biograd and later on Tkon Benedictines. Since 1392, there has been a Franciscan convent on Pasman Island in Kraj whose documents throw light on the history of this island.
After the fall of the Venetian Republic , Pasman, as well as the entire Dalmatia , falls under the French rule and then under the Austrian rule till the fall of the Monarchy and since 1918 it has constantly been a part of Croatia . Concerning the names of the Pasman villages, we have been able to trace them in written documents since the 10th century till the present day.

Diving - Everything you want to find out about the sea and the sub sea you will have a chance to find out when you take a glimpse at its depths. There you will find undersea caves, the unusually interesting world of the flora and fauna.
Scuba diving has become one of the most popular sports at the sea. Nature has really taken care for this type of sport that will give you all the fascination, the landscape of the numerous unexplored bays and undersea depths that is the real attraction of the entire Croatian coast.
This area is an ideal destination for scuba divers and all who love sea depths, and those who wish to in this way examine the magnificent, yet untouched undersea world.

Cycling - on the island of Pasman, there are many bicycle paths that are not overly demanding. All tracks are marked, and the tourist board has printed special cards with a marked bicycle routes so you can visit the island on bicycles, and refresh in one of the many coves and swim in the crystal clear sea.

Nautik - Pasman and other Adriatic islands real is a paradise for boaters. The island also has organized several anchorages where organized odvoženja garbage, which is all the more importance attached to nature conservation and the environment.
