Kampor - island Rab

KAMPOR may have once been the most ancient fishing village on the island, but today it is a tourist construction site, because of the beach it is popular with families with children and divers. Kampor is a quiet tourist place, has shops, ambulance, plenty of restaurants, pizzerias. The car here is an advantage because of the mediocre local transportation. Proximity to the forest - Kalifront nature park where you may be surprised to encounter a deer or mouflon, a long sandy beach, old houses under the hill, as well as those new to tourists, a fertile valley and a belt along the bay of Sv. Euphemia where a Franciscan monastery with an ethnographic collection is located - it is all Kampor, a blend of old and new. Kampor is certainly next to Mundani, the greenest part of the island.

History and monuments

FRANCISCAN MONASTERY OF ST. EUFEMIJE The monastery was founded in 1444 and is actually called "Saint Bernardine Monastery" and the popular name also came from the crucifixes, especially the polyptych of the brothers Antonio and Bartolomeo Vivarini and the icon "Madonna and Child" (unknown master). On the ceiling of the church is a painted wooden ceiling - tabulatum. Part of the monastery is designed as an ethnographic museum and a gallery of paintings by P. Ambrož Testen. The monastery library preserves valuable medieval manuscripts and books, there is also the Rab Chronicle, which was transcribed and supplemented by P. Odoriko Badurina.
