Island Farfarikulac

Farfarikulac, an uninhabited islet in the bay of Telašćica on Dugi otok, the largest island of the Zadar archipelago and all the North Dalmatian islands, as an integral part of the northeastern Croatian coast of the Adriatic Sea. Its area is about 4,500 m², or 0.0045 km². It is oval in shape and forested (mostly pine), has a rocky shore, and in its northeastern part there is a small residential building. It is privately owned. It was named after a farfarikula or kostela, a deciduous tree from the elm family, whose specimens once grew predominantly on it. This tree has a number of other popular names, depending on the location (for example, blackthorn, nettle, chestnut, palm, berry, etc.), and can grow up to 25 meters in height. Today there are mostly pine trees. Farfarikulac is one of several islets and cliffs located in Telašćica, among which, observed from the entrance to the bay, are Korotan, Galijola, Gozdenjak, Farfarikulac, Gornji Školj and Donji Školj, of which the latter are the two largest.
