Gradac

Gradac is situated on a mild slope covered by olive-groves and pine forests, Gradac is an attractive tourist resort, with one of the most beautiful and longest beaches not only on the Makarska Riviera but also on the entire Adriatic coast. Recreational facilities include numerous sports grounds and water sports equipment. Apart from an exquisite gastronomic offer, attractive are also numerous feasts visited by the population of other neighbouring places (Drvenik, Brist). Gradac, a town and small harbour on the Makarska Riviera, 13 km east of Ploce. Economy is based on farming, viticulture, olive growing, fishing and tourism. South of the harbour is Gornja Vala, with the largest and most beautiful beach on the Makarska Riviera.

History and monuments

Gradac on Makarska Riviera and the ancient history is still recorded in the Old Bronze and Iron Age. Although Gradac area was inhabited in ancient times as an urban settlement is first mentioned 1649.god., Whose name derives from the fort which was built during the Kandyan war in the 17th century Here you can find many historical Baroque, Renaissance and Romanesque churches and ruins and ruins that are still valuable evidence of the tumultuous history of the Dalmatian.
